It takes approx. 4 minutes to read this article

Self-made gifts are becoming more and more popular. They are unique, because original and made from the heart. We suggest how to prepare them and make your loved ones happy!

Nowadays store shelves are overflowing with various products. We live in times when almost everything is at our fingertips. All you need is money. This makes it more and more difficult to enjoy these products. To avoid this “massification” it is worth giving your loved ones gifts prepared by yourself. In recent years, you can see that more and more people decide to prepare their own cosmetics for Christmas. Beautifully decorated, packaged, completely natural and one of a kind – such gifts are the most enjoyable. And making them does not require much effort at all and everyone can do it! Here are some great recipes for homemade cosmetics:

1. Homemade bath salt

Nothing is so relaxing after a hard stressful day as a long bath with a scented bath salt. Thanks to it you can forget about the whole world for a moment and regenerate your body for the next day. Therefore, giving a loved one a beautifully decorated, colorful, completely organic and self-made bath salt will certainly make a lot of fun

To prepare such a cosmetic you will need

  • 0,5 kg of sea salt or 0,5 kg of pink Himalayan salt,
  • a handful of dried rose petals or lavender,
  • colouring agent – if we use sea salt,
  • 2-3 tablespoons of olive or sweet almond oil,
  • optionally – a few drops of rose or lavender oil,
  • jar,
  • lace, string and other decorations at your discretion

Pour salt and oils into a bowl and mix thoroughly. Then add dried rose petals or lavender and mix again. Pour the whole into a jar and carefully screw it on. On the top you can put dried flower petals. The jar should be nicely decorated, for example with lace or jute string and packed in festive paper or glitter cellophane. Then the salt will additionally have a decorative function. You can also attach a card with wishes or a sentence to make it even more pleasant for the recipient! You can also decorate the jar in a typically festive way by sticking Santa Claus on it or painting it by hand with glass paints.

2. Beautiful and healthy soap

In soap shops you will find many nice and good quality soaps. However, those made by yourself will be unique. To prepare them, we need

  • a bar of gray soap,
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil,
  • a quarter cup of water,
  • coffee beans, orange peel, dried flower petals – optional,
  • dye – optional.

And to make: 2 pots, a bowl, a grater, a sharp knife and molds

Grate the gray soap on a coarse grater and pour into the pot. Pour olive oil and hot water. Set the pot over low heat and stir until the water evaporates and the mixture becomes mushy. If you want the soap to have a nice color, add the chosen dye and decorations in the form of coffee beans, orange peel or dried flower petals. Moulds lubricate with olive oil to make it easier to remove the soap later. Pour into them hot mass and cut off excess with a sharp knife. The top can again decorate. When the mixture cools, remove it from the molds and put for several hours in the freezer. Such a soap is worth packing nicely in cellophane or tie it with jute string

3. Sparkling bath balls

Bath lovers love balls. Thanks to them, the skin is moisturized afterwards, and it smells beautifully. You can easily make them yourself, you only need:

  • 1 cup of citric acid,
  • 3 cups of baking soda,
  • 1.5 cups cornstarch,
  • 1/2 cup of bitter Epsom salt (available at drugstores),
  • essential oil of your choice,
  • a bit of cinnamon – optional, if you want the balls to have a truly festive smell.

Put the whole into a bowl and mix with a whisk, spraying water with essential oil. When you hear the characteristic hissing, you should slow down adding liquid. At some point the mass will begin to become plastic. Then we form balls from it. You can also shape them with the chosen molds, for example in the shape of a Christmas tree. Leave them overnight to dry. Later we decorate them or put them in a box
