It takes approx. 2 minutes to read this article

Doctors estimate that up to 90% of Poles are deficient in vitamin D. The reason for this is the geographical location of the country and the relatively small amount of sunlight. What does a deficiency of this vitamin lead to? We already explain.

Vitamin D plays a very important role in the body, among others: it stimulates the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, which has a large impact on the proper bone formation in children. Vitamin D can prevent hypertension, heart disease, allergies, anemia, and diabetes. In terms of beauty, in turn, it neutralizes free radicals and relieves inflammation. Therefore, when we have too little of it, signs of aging will appear on our skin sooner

You produce vitamin D in your body with the help of sunlight, but it is also contained in food. You can find it in foods such as sea fish, eggs, dairy products and liver. However, it is impossible to make up the deficiency with the help of diet, and you only absorb an adequate amount during spring and summer.

What are the symptoms of vitamin D deficiency?

  • bone pains
  • muscle pains
  • quick fatigue
  • insomnia
  • diarrhoea
  • appetite problems
  • high blood pressure
  • general weakness
  • overweight

Remember that vitamin D can also be overdosed. If, after taking the supplement for a longer period of time, you notice excessive thirst, headaches or hyperactivity, consult your doctor.
