Do you know when your fatigue is reaching a critical point?

It takes approx. 4 minutes to read this article

Despite 8 hours of sleep you are reluctant to get up in the morning and are still tired? Do you find daily activities difficult and focusing your mind on a single task is almost an unattainable challenge? It’s quite possible that you’re suffering from exhaustion, which studies show affects one in five people.

Symptoms of chronic fatigue?

The symptoms of chronic exhaustion are not clear-cut, as each body reacts differently to this condition. Some people may have problems with sober thinking and concentration. Others, on the other hand, are more stressed and are more easily upset. In addition, maximal fatigue can also produce somatic symptoms such as a dry mouth, a lack of strength to perform daily activities that require effort, the feeling of passing infections, and difficulty breathing

People who suffer from chronic fatigue describe it as more than the usual need for rest. They compare it to trying to cross a muddy road where your shoes get bogged down with every step

This is because a fatigued body is like a phone with a dead battery; it switches to power-saving mode and defends itself against activities that would use too much energy

When to see a doctor?

Feeling extremely exhausted may be just a temporary problem that indicates it’s time to slow down and put some tasks on hold. Sometimes, however, this feeling persists for a longer period of time despite your best efforts. When the exhaustion lasts for more than 3-4 months, it’s time to see a doctor because it can be diagnosed as chronic fatigue syndrome, which is most common in active women between the ages of 20 and 40. With chronic fatigue syndrome , frequent headaches, muscle aches or palpitations are also added to the symptoms listed above

If you go to a doctor with symptoms of chronic fatigue, you should be aware that he or she will certainly try to find out the cause of such a state of the body, and sometimes may also recommend the use of a psychologist or psychotherapist. However, you should not underestimate this problem, because a long-lasting feeling of fatigue can also be a sign of many diseases and illnesses

How to deal with critical exhaustion?

If you feel that your batteries are running low, allow yourself to rest, slow down, take care of valuable time with yourself and plenty of sleep that allows your body to regenerate. To prevent this from happening in the future, follow these tips

Eat regular, nutritious meals!

Eating smaller portions but more often influences the proper blood sugar level, thus preventing stress on the body. Therefore, you should ensure that you have plenty of vegetables and fruits on your plate, as well as regularity of meals

Sleep well

We all have sleepless nights, catching up on work, watching our favorite TV series or spending time with friends. However, it is worth to reduce such situations to a minimum and ensure at least 7 hours of valuable sleep. Your body will have time to regenerate, and you will regain balance

Learn to relax and let go

Dishes piling up in the sink, piles of clothes in the laundry basket, deadlines and less and less time. Ask yourself if you have to do all these things on the same day. Nothing will happen if you set the washing machine tomorrow or the dishes will stay in the sink until the morning. So, instead of slogging through the chores late at night, take a hot bath and let it go. Allow yourself to relax a bit and return to your tasks when you’re rejuvenated

In conclusion, when you feel that your fatigue level is reaching its peak, listen to your body and allow yourself to rest. After all, running on energy fumes for too long can be dangerous in its consequences not only to your physical health but also to your mental health
